AI-PROFICIENT joins AEM 2023!

We are very happy to announce that we will be part of the major industrial congress AEM 2023, which will take place from May 17th to 19th, 2023, in Tarragona, Spain.

In specific, our very own Mr. Egoitz Konde from Tekniker, will elaborate on our project’s Use Case 5 results in the presentation ‘Digital twin for wear evaluation in cutting processes’ (Gemelo Digital para la evaluación del desgaste en procesos de corte), on Thursday May 18th, at 17:40.

In specific, Mr. Egoitz Konde will focus on how AI-PROFICIENT develops a digital twin for wear evaluation in cutting processes, specifically for circular blades used in tire manufacturing. The digital twin is linked to the manufacturing line and includes a wear model based on real-time data. This model can predict blade wear and optimize blade replacement, which is critical to maintaining the quality of the cut and avoiding production line downtime. The wear evaluation process is complicated due to multiple factors such as material type, cutting parameters, and workpiece mechanical properties.

Futhermore Mr. Konde will explain how the proposed solution in AI-PROFICIENT simplifies the wear evaluation process by utilizing digital twins, which are virtual counterparts to physical devices. These digital twins can be continuously updated in real-time by synchronizing them with new data, making them an excellent tool for evaluating blade wear. Last but not least, Mr. Konde will highlight how the work done in our project demonstrates the potential of digital twins in optimizing manufacturing processes and improving production efficiency.

This allows manufacturers to make better decisions, reduce downtime and maintenance costs, and address problems quickly.​

      How should the developers engage the operators when developing the AI service and related apps and HMIs, with the goal of simplifying the job of confirming correct chemical product bag placement before production? ​

      The developers should work closely with the operators to design the services, choose the HMIs and adapt the apps, according to the actual work context. ​
      To implement an ethical by design user centered approach, the developers should work closely with the operators who will actually use the service. They should take care to understand the specific work conditions (dust, noise, time for tasks, etc.), discuss the planned solutions with the operator users, design initial mockups and discuss these with the operator users regularly in an iterative process as they develop the service. ​
